My Scott family starts with Mary E Scott daughter

of William F Scott and Delphy Ann Nelson. Mary was

born Jan 1848 Pope Co AR. Mary married James P Holmes

abt 1864 Pope Co AR. Around 1908 James and Mary Scott

Holmes moved to McIntosh Co OK where James died Feb 2

1910. After the death of Mary's husband, Mary moved

in with their daughter Frances Louella and son-in-law

James Stanton. Frances died Dec 29 1916 due to child

birth fever. The son Frankie who she had given birth

had also died. Mary Scott Holmes stayed with her son-

in-law James Stanton to help raise the 3 remaining

children, one was my grandfather Robert L Stanton.

Robert, nor his brother John can give an exact death

date for Mary Scott Holmes but believed it to be abt

1917. Mary Scott had not been found on the 1920

census.

At this time it is not known who William Scotts

parents were. William was born abt 1826 TN and

married Delphy Ann Nelson April 8 1847 Pope Co AR.

Daughter of Hugh and Elizabeth Nelson.
