Mr. Boyd presented a petition of inhabitants of the county of Livingston, in the State of Kentucky, in behalf of Nathaniel Medlock, a revolutionary soldier, praying for an increase of pension.

 

Pg 279 Tuesday Jan 24th 1837

Ordered, that the Committee on Revolutionary Pensions be discharged from the consideration of the cases of Nathaniel Medlock and Thomas Ramsay; and that they lie on the table.

Nathaniel was born in Hanover Co VA Dec 1742; Resided in Granville Co NC when he was first called into service. Since living there he has resided in East TN, AL, and KY. He volunteered under Capt Maurice Roney, General Green. Later was transferred to Capt. Cole’s Company, General Davidson. They had engaged with Cornwallis and General Davidson was killed and his command dispersed. In 1781 he served under Captain William Lytle, Lt. Moore, with the twelve months men under General Greene June 6 1781. He was in Battle of Eutaw Springs and assisted in saving the baggage of the army. He was in active service one year and six months.

Martha Matlock declares that she is the widow of Nathaniel Matlock who was a Revolutionary soldier and U S Pensioner under the Act of Congress passed June 7 1832. She was married to Nathaniel Matlock Sept 1 1769 Granville Co NC (No Maiden Given) they had 13 children, two of whom were born before their father enlisted. Dolly Matlock was the oldest now aged 72 years and Usly Matlock an infant at the time. They are both living in AL. Nathaniel Matlock died April 5 1838. No further family data on file.

   build.
