name is, but it is believed that he was married to the Nancy who shows

up in Laurens Co SC. Nancy was born abt 1798 SC. Although Nancy and her

daughter hasn't been found on the 1840 Census, it is believed that she

went to Kentucky with the rest of the Medlock family. Nancy's daughter

Elizabeth married Daniel Pinkston Aug 15th 1848 Hopkins Co KY. In 1850

Nancy was living with Daniel and Elizabeth in Muhlenberg Co KY.

     Mrs. Mary Medlock Died Near Elston, Funeral Thursday

     Mrs. Mary Medlock, 79, pioneer resident of the Elston neighborhood
     died shortly after midnight this morning after a lingering illness.
     Mrs. Medlock had been a resident of Cole County nearly all her life
     residing for more than half a century on a farm 4 miles north of Elston.
     She is mourned by her husband, John Medlock and two daughters,
     Mrs. Ben Knife of Coquille, Ore., and Mrs. R. D. Knife of Centertown.
     The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from King

     Chapel Church. Burial will be at Elston. Mrs. Medlock had a wide

     acquaintance in the county.

       Albert Medlock, 79, 721 Sadium Blvd, died at Memorial Hospital Saturday after a long illness.
       He was born Aug. 21,1883 in Cole County, the son of the late Anderson and Marcelite Kinney

       Medlock. He was married to Ann Sanders on Feb. 15, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo. She survives.
       Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Helen Whitson of Jefferson City, Mrs. Margie M.
       Perrin of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Claud Yauts of Ft. Worth Texas; a son, Frank Medlock of
       Jefferson City; a brother, LeRoy Medlock of Lebanon; a sister, Mrs. Maude Quick of Kansas City,

       Mo.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Medlock was a retired contractor,
       a member of the Methodist Church in Kansas City. He will lie in state at a local funeral home

       from Monday 2 p.m. until the hour of the service at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Elston

       Cemetery. The Rev. James Harriman officiating.

       Miss Ethel Lee Medlock, 80, of California, died Sunday at a Slater nursing home. Miss

       Medlock was born June 9 1889 at Elston, a daughter of Elias and Minnie Kenny Medlock.
       She was a member of the Free Methodist Church. Surviving are: Two brothers, John Medlock,

       California; Harley Medlock, Newberg Ore; three sisters Mrs Lucy Hackney, McGirk; Miss

       Zanie Medlock, Sedelia; and Mrs Velma Autenreth, Vandalia Ill.  Funeral services will be

       at 2 p. m. today at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel California, with Rev A. L. Turnbough

       Miss Medlock dies in Sedalia
       Miss Zanie E. Medlock, 74, a former California resident, died Saturday in a Sedalia
       nursing home. Miss Medlock was born Jan. 24, 1896, in Moniteau County, a daughter of

       Elias and Minnie Kenny Medlock. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church, Sedalia.

       An alumna of Central Missouri State College, Warrensburg, Miss Medlock was an elementary

       school teacher for about 40 years in Sedalia. She retired in 1966. Survivors include: Two
       brothers, Johnnie Medlock, California; Harley Medlock Newberg, Ore; two sisters, Mrs.
       Lucy Hackney, McGirk; Mrs. Velma Autenrieth, Vandalia, Ill. Funeral services were at 2:30
       p.m. today at the Williams Funeral Home chapel, California, with the Rev. Paul Willard

       officiating. Burial was in the California Cemetery.

Ordinary of the District aforesaid Petition for Guardianship

The petition of Absalom Medlock sheweth that William Clardy late of said

district died intestate leaving a widow and three minor children viz;

Caswell (Logan), William and John all of whom are minors under 12 years

of age without any person having the charge and management of their

distribution shares of the intestates estate, that your petitioner has

intermarried with the said widow; your petitioner therefore prays that

you would take his case into consideration and Grant him Letters of

Guardianship in order that he may become the legal representative of

the aforementioned minors; together with all the powers and immunities

in anywise belonging or appertaining to guardianship, and your petitioner

will ever pray. This 12th Oct 1836.

1843 Nov 13  Absalom Medlock vs Samuel Beeks. Ordered sold 86A of land on

Saluda bounded by Samuel Beeks. 38 3/4 A on same river bounded by Wm Puckett

and Elisha Williamson  This complaint of Judgment is taken for the purpose

of indemming me for any liability I may be subjected to as the surety for

Absalom Medlock and his bond as the guardian of the infant children of

William Claridy who died 13 Nov 1843 signed Samuel Beeks
 

1845 Caty Simmons and Samuel Beeks were suing an Absolam Medlock in 1843 and

it was settled the end of 1844 by selling all of Absolams property the Jan of

1845.It said that Absolam was the guardian of the children of a dec'd William Clardy.

 

1845 Court order to Thomas Deen to search for runaway slaves and Thomas Deen

is given permission for punishment of no more than 20 lashes on the naked skin.

It is signed by Absolam Medlock and 2 others plus a John Clardy with the title

of CLK of Court after his name--date is 1845.

 

1850 June 1st The Laurens Court called on Samuel Beeks to administer the

Settlement of the estate of the John J. Clardy, minor, and his guardian

Absalom Medlock having removed from this state, as Samuel Beeks was about

to remove from the state. 1 June 1850

1850 Dec 11 From Mississippi each, William C. and John J. Clardy, hired an

attorney to collect their due from the estate of their grandfather, James

Clardy and to collect what was left of the estate of their father.
 

1856 Lowndes Co MS Nathaniel B Medlock  is listed in a will of Mahala Medlock

3 March 1856 and proved 4 April 1856. Will reads son John J. Clardy and money

he left his mother Mahala with $1 going to her son William and her son Logan

(both Clardy). Calls Nathaniel B. Medlock her son and Drucilla Catherine

Medlock her daughter. Leaves land to her husband Absolam Medlock. Clardy

researchers believe she is Mahala Gains of SC who married William Clardy of

SC .After his death she married Absolam.
