    The Dickson County Press of August 12 1886 wrote: "Mrs.

    Minerva Corlew Matlock, who is at the home of her father,

    Mr. John Corlew, about one mile east of Charlotte, is in the

    last stage of consumption, and the doctors think cannot live

    but a few days."

      Saturday April 19, 1958 at 1PM at a Rest Home in Burns,

      Tenn., Vernon Wilson Matlock, age 73 years.  Survivors are

      his wife Eva Short (Choate JWM) Matlock; three daughters,

      Mrs. Mary DePriest of Madison, Mrs. Eleanor Ridgell of

      Canada (??? JWM), Mrs. Betty Spann, of Bellsburg; five son,

      Douglas and James D. Matlock of Nashville, John Matlock of,

      Oak Ridge, Warren and Hubert Matlock, Dickson; 12

      grandchildren; one half brother, Ray Matlock of Charlotte;

      three half-sisters, Mrs. Allene Caldwell of Dickson, Mrs.

      Irene Fowler and Miss Ruby Matlock, Charlotte.  The remains

      are at Dickson funeral home. Funeral Service from the Mount

      Lebanon Methodist church, Monday, April 21 at 2p.m.

      conducted by Rev. Leo Parker, assisted by Rev. J. C. Elliot

      and Rev. J. M. Putman.Interment Mount Lebanon cemetery.

I William Matlock of the County of Dickson and State of Tennessee, being in a low state of health but of a sound mind and a disposing memory do make and publish this as my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made.
 

First I direct that my funeral Expenses and all my just debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any monies that I may die possessed or may first come into the hands of my Executrix and Executor herein after named. Secondly I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Miriah, during her natural life or widowhood all my property if every description which shall embrace the four acre tract Deeded to me by Elizabeth Acuff on which I now live and also the interest which is a third part of the Hundred acre tract lying adjoining the town of Charlotte that I purchased of F M Brinkly and Nancy Coffee the boundaries of said tracts can be had by reference to the Deeds made to me by said Elizabeth Acuff, F W Brinkley and Nancy Coffee  which are registered in the Registers Office of Dickson County. It is my will and desire that my said wife have the said property to enable her to raise and school my younger Children who have but little Education and for her support and comfort, but should my said Wife marry then in that case my Land and what of the personal property may be left or remain is to be sold and divided equally

among my wife and all my children, my wife taking a childs part. Should any of my property that she may feel able and willing to spare and at the death of my said wife should she remain a widow all my property shall be sol and equally divided among all my children. Lastly I hereby appoint my trust friend Thomas NcNeilly and beloved wife my Executor and Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I do to this my last Will set my hand and seal this 1st day of September 1854 William Matlock (Will Book A Page 276)

1842 Absolom Massie Died before June term 1842 When his death was suggested

by the administratrix, Milberry Massie.Feb 1842 a case shown with Henry A

Bibb and wife administrator of Absolom Massie. (Ibid 361) Milberry Massie,

a widow of Absolom Massie, had married Henry Bibb. (Ibid 447) A petition

made for the settlement of the estate of Thomas Massie states that Absolom

Massie was a brother to Thomas and had married Milberry Matlock. (Dickson

County Circuit Court Minutes A/33)

 

1843 Thomas Massie Died before Oct 19 1843 when the administrator, William Matlock petitioned for sale of land A petition made in June 1849 stated that Thomas died in 1835. the Heirs of Thomas were Elder Massie, of Illinois, Henderson Massie residence unknown, John Massie residence unknown, Jonathan Massie of Kentucky, Sylvanus Massie residence unknown, Patsy and Fanny Massie residence unknown, all the above were brother and sisters of Thomas
