DAVID MEDLOCK/MATLOCK

David Medlock according
to his tombstone record was born May 10 1814,
more than likely
David
was born in
North Carolina. All the
census that David appears on stated he was
born
in North Carolina,
it was from his obit
that stated he was born in Tennessee. The
first
record David appears on was his marriage to his first
wife, Nancy Brown, they
married Dec 20, 1838 in
Lawrence Co Indiana. David then appears next on
the 1840 Lawrence
Co Indiana Census. For the
most of David's life he was known by Medlock. It wasn't
until
1885 that the spelling was Matlock.

born Dec 21 1873 Van Buren Co IA Noah married
Amy Finette McCracken. Noah
died Jan 30 1946 Van Buren Co IA and is buried
in the Thompson
Cemetery, Bonaparte
Van Buren Co
Iowa.
Noah E. Ward was born Dec. 21, 1873, and
departed this life Jan. 30, 1946, at the age
of
72 years, 1 month and 9
days. On Jan. 26, 1901, he was united in
marriage with Amy
Finette McCracken. To this union
were born three daughters and three sons, one of
whom
died in infancy. During his long and full life,
which terminated after an illness of
many
months, Noah was always happiest when surrounded by his
family, friends and neighbors,
and especially
happy when spared to celebrate his 45th wedding
anniversary with his
beloved wife just four days
before being called to his reward. With the
exception of six
years in Oklahoma, he spent his
entire life as a farmer in Van Buren county. He incurred
the
friendship of all with whom he met and always
stood ready and willing to aid friends
or neighbors. As
a young man he confessed his faith in Christ,
and united with the Harrisburg
Baptist church, later
transferred to the Bonaparte Baptist church,
where he maintained a
membership until death. He leaves
to mourn their loss, his wife, sons, James R.,
and Alvin G.;
daughters, Mrs. Mary Willits, Mrs.
Tina Ewing, and Mrs. Hazel McIntosh. Also 13
grandchildren,
three half brothers, John Matlock of
Moline, Ill., Charles Matlock of Keokuk, and
Steve Matlock
of Bonaparte, and four half sisters, Mrs.
Anna Burnett and Mrs. Tina Hornbaker, of
Burlington,
and Mrs. Dorothy Richards of Tacoma, Wash.,
and Mrs. Nettie Holmes of Moline, Ill.

Mrs. Rose Green.
It was with
sadness that the friends of Mrs. Rose Hamlin
Green, wife of James Green,
learned of her death which
occurred here last Friday. Mrs. Green had been
afflicted
for more than a year with tuberculosis. On
consulting a specialist last October, she
was
advised to take to her bed, which she did and continued
for about a month, after
which time she was up
and down, according to the way she felt until about
three weeks
ago when she took to her bed and
remained there until her death. It is sad that so
young a
woman should be called from this world. Rose Leoti Hamlin was born in Harrisburg
Township, Van
Buren County, Iowa, Nov. 28, 1888. In 1907 she
moved with her parents to
Bonaparte, where she lived
until August 5, 1908. She then was married to
James Green,
since which time she has lived in
Farmington where she died Feb.17, 1911, aged 22
years,
2 months and 19 days. She was the mother of one
daughter, born in 1909, who died at the
age of
seven months. She made many friends during her short
residence here who regret
very much to see their
friend taken away in her young womanhood. She
was preceded [sic]
to the better world by
father, mother, one brother and one sister. She leaves to
mourn
their loss, her husband, three brothers
Frank, Fred and John, and two sisters, Mrs. Chas.
Matlock and Miss Laura Hamlin, besides other
relatives and a host of friends.– News-
Republican.
