David Matlock died 1790. His will is on
file in the office of the
County Clerk at
Jonesboro, Tennessee in Will book Record
I on page 20.
David MATLOCK - Will
I David MATLOCK of the County of
Washington, State of North Carolina,
being advanced in years and in low state
of health, yet of sound memory blessed
by God, yet calling to mind the
mortality of my body and that it is
appointed for all men once to die do
make this my last Will and
Testament...first of all I recommend my
soul into the hands of Almighty God who
gave it and my body to the earth to be
buried in a Christian manner at the
discretion of my executors hereafter
named, nothing doubting, but at the
general resurrection the same shall be
united by the same almighty power which
brought them into existence and as
touching such worldly estates as it hath
Almighty God to bless me which I will
and devise in the following manner
I give and bequeath unto my three
daughters, that is Sarah, Elizabeth and
Catherine, one feather bed and side
saddle each.
Item I give and bequeath unto my
loving wife Margaret, my plantation
together with all m stock of every kind.
household furniture and implements of
husbandry during her life or widowhood,
and at her death or marriage the
plantation to be to my son George and a
horse to the value of twenty pounds and
the rest of my estate to equally divided
between my son David and Gideon, and
lastly I do appoint my son David and
Joseph Greer whole and sol executors of
this my Last Will and Testament hereby
disanulling and making void all other
wills and testament heretofore made by
me and establishing and confirming this
my Last Will and Testament.
