MATLOCK to Walker

THIS INDENTURE made and Concluded this the twenty second day of June one Thousand seven Hundred and sixty two. BETWEEN William MATLOCK of the County of Bedford of the one Part and James Walker of Cumberland County of the other part. WITNEFSETH that the said William MATLOCK for and in consideration of the sum of Forty Pounds current Money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said James Walker the receipt where of he doth hereby acknowledge and himself therewith fully satisfyed Contented and paid hath granted Bargained & sold aliend - Release and Confirmed and by these presents for himself his Heirs and Afsigns doth grant Bargain and sell alien Release and Confirm unto the said James Walker his Heirs and Afsigns forever one Certain tract or Parcel of Land Containing one Hundred and sixty eight acres, Seilule [t not crossed] Lying and being in the County of Bedford on Both sides of Wades Branch (a West Branch of Stone Wall Creek) and Bounded as followeth, to wit, - BEGINNING at a Shrub White Oake on Moses Williams’s Line. thence off South sixty two Degrees West one Hundred and fifty two Poles to a red oake, South thirty eight Degrees East one Hundred and forty Poles to a Black Jack. East Ninety six Poles to a Black Jack, North forty two and an Half Degrees. East seventy Poles to a red Oak. North fourteen degrees East forty four Poles to Poles Pointers in Williams’s Line and then along his Line. North fifty six Degrees West one Hundred and twenty eight Poles to the first Station. Together with all Houses Orchards, gardens fences, woods under woods waters and water courses. thereon growing, Standing or Being with all Profitts, Commodities, advantages and appertenances whatsoever. to the same Belonging or in any wise appertaining and also the reversion, and Reversions, remainder and remainders of every Part and Parcel there of TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract of Land with all and Singular the appertenances unto the said James Walker his Heirs and Afsigns. to the only Proper use and Behoof of him the said James Walker his Heirs and Afsigns forever. and the William MATLOCK for himself and his Heirs the said Land and Premises with - their and every of their appertenances to the said - James Walker his Heirs and afsigns shall and Will Warrant and forever Defend, by these Presents against any Person or Persons What so ever having or Lawfull Claim any Right or Title in or to the same or any Part or Parcel thereof and the said William MATLOCK for himself & his Heirs doth grant Covenant and agree to and with the said James Walker his Heirs and Afsigns in Manner and form following, (Viz) That the said William MATLOCK -- at the time of Sealing and Delivery of these Presents is and Stands seized of an Inheritance Indefeasable Estate in - fee ? simple of ? in the Premises and that he hath good right and absolute Authority to sell and Convey the same in manner and form aforesaid and the same shall forever remain to the said James Walker his Heirs and afsigns freely and Clearly exonerated of and from all manner of other former, Bargains, Sales, Titles of Dower and all others rights and Estates, Whatsoever. In Witnefs where of the said William MATLOCK hath here unto set his Hand and fixed his Seal the day and year above Written.

MEMORANDUM that on [blank] day of one Thousand seven Hundred and sixty two Peacable and Quite & Peacable Pofsion and Sizen of the within granted Lands and Premises was made and done and Delivered by the within Named William MATLOCK unto the within Named James Walker according to the form and E?ffect of the within written Deed.

At a Court held for Bedford County May 25th 1762,
This Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of ???? on hereon Indored were acknowledged by William MATLOCK - Party thereto and Ordered to be Recorded and Elizabeth the wife of the said William (she being first Privily exammined according to Law) Relinquished her right of Dower in and to the Land and Premises Conveyed by
