11 Nov 1828  Stephen Chester to Stephen Matlock, $15 for 200 acres on

the waters of Watermelon Creek.

24 Oct 1829  Mathew Dees to Stephen Matlock, $250 for 949 acres.

29 Dec 1829  Jesse Stanley to Stephen Matlock, $400 for 2 tracts: 287

1/2 acres and 287 1/2 acres for a total of 575 acres.

24 Mar 1832   John Conner to Stephen Matlock, $30 for 250 acres on

 Watermelon Creek; $___ for 46 acres on Watermelon Creek; $30 for 200

acres on Watermelon Creek.

30 Oct 1837  John Mattox to Stephen Matlock, $600 for the following

tracts which are all on or near the Altamaha River: "Sha Stanley 150

acres, more or less,  200  surveyed for Richard Vince, more or less,

300 for John Lee, more or less."

20 Aug 1838  Gift Deed- Stephen Matlock to his children by Mary Stanley.  

This deed occurs shortly before Stephen Matlock marries his second wife,

Mary Copeland.

24 Aug 1838  State of Georgia, Tattnall County.
  To all persons to whom these presents shall come Greeting: I, Stephen

Matlock, of the county and state aforesaid for and in consideration of

the good will and affection which I have for my children( viz. ) John,

Stephen, William, Carolina, Georgia and Florida, hath given and by these

presents doth give and bequeath unto them all my lands lying in Tattnall

County (except one tract on Little Watermelon Creek granted to Abel

Chester and known as the Hall Mill tract).  And I, the said Stephen

Matlock, do hereby reserve to myself the entire control and possession of

said lands for and during my natural life, then the said lands to revert

to my said children in equal interest to have and to hold the said lands

to their own proper use and benefit of the executors and administrators

&c.  In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this

twentieth day of August Eighteen Hundred and Thirty Eight.

wife, Mary Copeland)  73 Acres butting and bounding by land surveyed for

Chester, for Whitington, B. G. Whitington, John Connor and by William

Anderson...

In a separate instrument on the same date Stephen Matlock to Charles

Matlock, 250 acres by land surveyed for Standley, Est. of Jesse Copeland,

Anderson, Land Surveyor for Reeves, Land Surveyor for B. G. Whitington
