CLEVELAND COUNTY

 

Services for the Rev. Herbert P. Matlock, 87, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 3,

2000, at First Baptist Church with the Rev James Densman and the Rev. Duane Cook

officiating. Interment will be at Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fox

Funeral Home. Matlock was born Dec. 16, 1912, at Franklin, to Stanley G. and

Mahala Lee Lessly Matlock. He died Feb. 29, 2000, in Ardmore. He graduated from

Oklahoma Baptist University and Midwestern Baptist Seminary in Kansas City, Kan.,

and was ordained to gospel ministry Sept. 1, 1940, by First Baptist Church in

Davis, Okla. He served on a mission field in the Panama Canal Zone in 1947 and had

lived in Davis since 1949. He pastored rural churches in Missouri and Oklahoma and

operated a ministry of Christian Book Store out of his home for several years. He

was a member of First Baptist Church of Davis. He and Lucille Jones were married

May 22, 1942, at Prague. Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Paul

David Matlock and his wife, Dianna, of Parker, Texas, Philip Rhea Matlock and

Charles Lee Matlock, both of Davis; two sisters, Jewell Fox of Moore, and Mary Lou

Davis of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, James Matlock of Denton, Texas; four

grandchildren, Michael Matlock, Kevin Matlock Bobbs, Brian Matlock and Rhea Samson;

five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bearers will be the deacons

at First Baptist Church. Honorary bearers will be the Senior Men's Sunday School

Class.

 

MCCURTAIN COUNTY

 

1944 Ft Worth TX "Services for William C. Matlock, 63, of 1212 E. Belknap, who

died Tuesday at his home, will be held Wednesday at Shannon's Chapel. Burial will

be in Garden of Memories. Survivors are his widow; four sons, Claude of Garvin,

Okla; Charles of Okla City, and Troy and Clyde both in the Army; a daughter, Mrs

Mamie Mc Lain of Garvin and a sister; Mrs Bettie Auld of Willis." 

 

SEQUOYAH COUNTY

 

Funeral services for Loyd Allen MATLOCK, 84, of Muldrow are being held at 2 p.m.

Wednesday at Assembly of God Church in Muldrow, with the Revs. Mark Merrill and

Ted Brown officiating. Burial is in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Muldrow, under

the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Mr. MATLOCK was born April 28,

1913, in Stroud, to Robert and Sarah (BROYLES) MATLOCK. He died Sunday, Feb. 15,

1998, in Fort Smith, Ark. He married Viola Mae TROUT Feb. 27, 1933, in Bristow.

Survivors include his wife, Viola MATLOCK of the home; two daughters, Ina Mae

and Margie; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-

granddaughter; and one brother, Ben. ( Sequoyah County Times 1998)
