BURLINGTON COUNTY

Joshua Matlack, aged 66, died at his home, 63 Madison St., Mount Holly, after a short illness.

For the past eight years has been Burlington County deputy surrogate. He is survived by two

brothers, M.E. Matlack, and William, and two sisters, Mrs. Elwood Stokes, and Mrs. Martha

Bridgeman. (Mount Holly Herald Oct 18 1929, p 8 Col 4)

 

CUMBERLAND COUNTY

 

MATLACK, REXFORD M., 94, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday (March 24, 2005) at Pasadena Manor,

South Pasadena. He was born in Bridgeton, N.J., and came here in the 1960s from Reeders, Pa.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was an engineer for CBS Television Network, New York.

Locally, he was a member of St. Vincent's Episcopal Church. Survivors include a stepdaughter,

JoAnne Nicholson, Springfield, Tenn. David C. Gross Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, Central

Avenue Chapel, St. Petersburg.

WARREN COUNTY

 

21 Mar 1953 -A 32 year old dairy farmer and nine members of his family lost their lives in a head on

highway crash last night as they were on their way to do the weekly shopping. Their 1953 sedan was

crumpled in a collision with a trailer truck on a two-lane highway in Warren County. Worst In NJ

History - State Police said accident is the worst in NJ history. Clarence Matlock, 60 cow dairy

farmer in Silver Lake, killed with his wife Alma and their children plus other relatives. Ester 10,

Joan 5, Rosemary 2, Clarence Jr. 1, his mother Elizabeth 75, and his 2 sisters Grace 48 and Mary 50.

Another son Raymond, the only member of the family taken from car alive, died in a Warren hospital

early this morning on his 8th birthday. The truck drivers were not injured. (Dixon Evening Telegraph,
