                               SAD DEATH
                               -----------
                        Mrs. Mary Hudspeth Dies
                        Here while on a Visit
                              ------------
The death of Mrs. Mary Hudspeth, which occurred at the residence of W. T. Breeden

Saturday afternoon, was by reason of the circumstances unusually sad.  She was here

on a visit, and was taken sick with pneumonia in the very worst form from the start.

Her home was at Mt. Vernon, Ills., and she arrived here about three week ago to visit

the family of W. T. Breeden and S.E. Carmichael.  A week later a bad cold developed

into pneumonia, and all efforts to relieve her were without results. Saturday morning

it was evident that the end was near, and her daughter (this was Lily Barbour) from

Evansville and Mayor Denny, of Indianapolis arrived only an hour before her death,

though the mother was unconscious and did not know them. Mrs. Hudsbeth was 65 years

old and an aunt of Mrs. Breeden and Mrs. Carmichael. Her daughter, Miss Birdie, who

accompanied  her on the visit, was at her bedside constantly, giving her all the

attention possible. In this she was assisted by the devoted care of the relatives here,

all of whom showed every kindness.  At 2:30 o'clock Sunday short funeral services were

held at the home of W. T. Breeden, in charge of Dr. Steele, when the remains were taken

to the 3:45 train to go to the old home at Mt. Vernon.  W. B. Baker, of this city, and

the two daughters accompanied the body. Mayor Denny was compelled to return to

Indianapolis Sunday morning. "Bloomington Telephone" newspaper

NOTE In the above Obit it mentions a Mrs. Breeden and a Carmichael, They were nieces to

Mary Hudspeth. Its unclear who these two were the daughters of but here is the census

Evansville, Indiana Oct. 1, 1903 Wedded Pair Both of This City

Mr. J. Goodwin Perkins, a Former-High School Instructor Here; Weds Miss Birdie

Hudspeth in Chicago Early in September. Cards were sent out from Chicago early

in September announcing the marriage of Miss Birdie Hudspeth and Mr. J. Goodwin

Perkins, both formerly of this city. Mrs. Perkins is a sister of Mrs. Frank

Barbour and made her home with Mrs. Barbour when the family resided on Upper

First Street in this city a few years ago. She is a charming woman, affable in

manner, gracious in hearing and possesses all the qualities of mind and heart

that go to make up the ideal woman, and that ___ her to shine in any any position

she may be called upon to fill.

Prof. Perkins several years ago was one of the competent instructors in the Evansville

high school and so readily won the esteem and liking of teachers and pupil that his

departure was the source of deep regret.  He was well known socially and he and his

bride have the best wishes of the community for their future happiness.

Mr. and Mrs. Perkins will reside in Chicago.
