Rufus and Elizabeth have not been found in 1850, but
from what information we
have found from the Biography of his Nephew Edwin R Farrington taken from
“1900
Biographical History of Miami OH 2187” mentions that the Farrington’s
were
from Baldwinsville, near Syracuse, New York. Edwin was the son of Philip
and
Mary Hayes. The short paragraph on Rufus states :
“Rufus Farrington, a brother of Philip Farrington, was a very prominent Mason,
who died in Memphis, Tennessee, of cholera. He had a contract with the
government
to move the Indians west of the Mississippi river and to supply
them with blankets
and provisions for a number of years. He went to
Washington, District of Columbia,
to get his money from the government, but
before his claim was allowed his death
occurred.”
