WILLIAM HEDGE

William Hedge according to the 1850 Dickson Co TN Census claimed that he was born 1791 MS. William Hedge married Mary "Polly Baker, Dau of John Baker abt 1810, more than likely in Dickson Co TN. Mary was named

in her father's will (Will dated  May 3 1820. Dickson Co Tenn Book 1803-1856 Page 37 Will Number 23) as:

    " 3rd - My Daughter Polly Hedge five dollars to her and her Heirs forever"

 

William Hedge died before July 1858 Dickson Co TN, Mary Polly (Baker) Hedge died Nov 27, 1868 Dickson Co,

TN, On Nov 20th 1867 Memory England who married Melinda Hedge set up to sale William Hedges estate.

 

1812 April 10 Deed from James Dunnagan to William Hedge of Dickson county, for and in consideration of the

sum of ninety-three dollars to him in hand paid by edge, for a tract o land lying on Bushes Meat house fork of Pine River, beginning at the northeast corner of a tract granted to Thomas Parsons, then west to Gabriel

Overton's northeast corner, then south to William Dunnagan's  north boundary line, and containing eighty-six and one half acres

1861 Feb 13 Deed From Tho. C Morris, County Clerk to J W Hedge. County Clerk complying with bill filled in Co. Court, Dickson Co. by Memory England and others against W C Hedge and others for sale of lands and negros belonging to the Estate of William Hedge dec'd in Dec.Term 1858. Decree rendered directing M. England and G W Few to sell to highest bidder land belong to said estate on a credit of one and two years. M. England and G W Few sold lands on Jan 15 1859 to J W Hedge for $1500.00 payable in one and two years which sum has been paid and discharged. In Jan Term 1861 decree issued directing Clerk and Master to make deed to J W Hedge for the land purchased by him. Dated 13 Feb 1861 ( Dickson Co TN Deed Book L P 427)

   1856 March 28 Will of Lewis Hedge State of Tennessee, Dickson County March 28, 1856, I, Lewis Hedge

   of the county and state aforesaid, being weak in body, but of sound mind, do call to mind that it

   is once appointed for all men to die, I do therefore acknowledge this instrument to be my last will

   and testament in the name of God, Amen. It is my will, that my beloved wife Elizabeth Hedge, shall

   select such articles of my perishable property as she may think needful for her and her children to

   subsist on comfortably, and after this I want what property remains to be sold at public sale at

   twelve month’s credit, and the money that the property brings, I want to be collected, and out of

   this money I want my debts paid off. And after that, I want the remainder, if any, to be equally

   divided between my wife Elizabeth Hedge and her four children, to wit, Sarah Aline, William Cowall,

   James Petty, and Mary Emily. These are the names of the four children I wish my wife to keep enough

   provisions to do her and the four children for the term of twelve months. It is my will and wish that

   my brother W. F. B. Hedge should be Executor to wind up all my business, and to see that my will and

   wishes should be faithfully carried out, agreeable to this instrument. In witness whereof, I have

   hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this day and date first above written. Test: G. W. Few, William

   Hedge.  Lewis (X) Hedge. Will was proven in open court at the June term of 1856, and recorded on the
