The first record we have of Lawson is who served in the 1 Reg't (Napier's) Tennessee Militia.

The soldiers furnished by Dickson County to the War of 1812 were as follows: John B. Walker,

Thomas Edwards, David McAdoo, William James, Benjamin Swift, Daniel Williams, James Bell,

Thomas Williams, James Daniels, Thomas Gilbert, William Porter, John Jones, John Hall, John

Tilley, William Dodson, James Hightower, Obediah Spradlin, Abraham Heath, Simon Deloach,

Jesse Beck, Francis Hunter, Drury Atkins, A. Etherage, Isaac Heath, Aaron Parrish, Willis

Willey, Thomas Nesbitt, Richard Batson, Isaac Hill, David Bibb, Allen Bowen, Richard Watkins,

1 Reg't (Napier's) Tennessee Militia were Men who were mostly from Maury, Dickson, Montgomery,

Sumner, Giles  and Stewart Counties are who made up this regiment. The Colonel was Richard C

Napier the date served was Jan 1814-May 1814

BRIEF HISTORY:
Part of General Thomas Johnson's brigade, this regiment mustered in at Fayetteville and marched

to Huntsville, then Ft. Deposit, Fort Strother, and Fort Williams. While some detachments

participated in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend (27 March 1814), others stayed at Fort Williams on

guard duty (Capt. Preston, for example). Jackson's report of the battle mentions that the troops

under Captain James McMurray were on the left line at Horseshoe Bend.

Many of the men then marched to the Hickory Ground (near present-day Montgomery, Alabama) where

Jackson anticipated another battle with the Creeks, but the defeat at Horseshoe Bend had been

decisive and the Tennesseans faced no further massed resistance. The regiment numbered about 500

men.

The next records are the 1830 and 1840 Dickson Co TN Censuses, Lawson and Mary are living next

door to William and Mary Hedge. In 1830 on the same page is Isaac Hedge.

The Circuit Court of Dickson County, in common with similar courts throughout the State, was

established by an act of the Legislature of Tennessee passed January 25, 1836. By this act

Dickson County was placed in the Seventh Judicial District, of which Hon. Mortimer A. Martin

was judge, and William K. Turner was attorney-general. Previous to that time the county court

had full jurisdiction in all cases, both criminal and civil. During the war of the Rebellion

the records of the circuit court were damaged and destroyed to a considerable extent, and of

the first three years' proceedings of the court there is now no record, the dockets and minute

books being entirely lost. The first session of the court, of which there is a record, was held

in the court house at Charlotte, beginning on the second Monday of June, 1839, over which Judge

Martin presided. The first grand jury, of which there is a record, also met at this term of court,

and was composed of the following gentlemen: Willie Bothrop, John S. Spencer, William Willey,

David Frazier, William White, Jesse Graham, Elisha Lloyd, James Loggins, Lawson Gunn, Thomas

McMurry, Josiah Ferrill and Berryman S. Walker, of which Willie Bothrop was chosen foreman.

1867 March 1st A settlement with W C Gunn guardian for W L, C J, M A, M M, S J, M C

and John M Hedge minors heirs of W C Hedge decd. The guardian admitted that he received

of Lueco Haily  Admr. of Isaac Hedge deceased on the 1st day of March 1862 the sum of

$69.70. The guardian produced a receipt from John Hedge husband of Mary Ann Gunn formerly

Mary Ann Hedge [sic] The Guardian produced a receipt from W S Few Husband of M M Few

formally M M Hedge. W L Hedge, Cynthia J Few, Mary Ann Gunn and Martha M Few have been
