LOS BANDS, Merced Co.—
The rosary will be recited tonight in the Whitehurst Chapel
for Mrs. Violet Silva,
81, a resident
of Los Banos 50 years, who died Tuesday, in a Modesto
hospital after
a short illness.
A requiem mass will be held in St. Joseph's Catholic Church
at 9:30
AM tomorrow.
Burial will be in the family plot in the Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Silva
was born in Sao
Jorge Island, the Azores. She came to the United States when
she was
18 years old and
lived in Hayward until moving to Los Banos. She is survived
by her
daughters, Mrs.
Virginia Williams of Merced, and Mrs Mary Pixley of Fresno;
her sons,
Manuel C., Joe
A., and Louie J. of Los Banos and Elmer G., of Chowchilla; a
sister,
Mrs. Isabel
Silveira the Azores Islands; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great
grand children.
She was a member
of the SPRSI, the St. Joseph's Altar Society, Our Lady of
Fatima
Society; and Our
